Scope of Practice:
Coaching at Flourish Holistic Coaching
This document defines permitted activities for life coaches and the boundaries with regulated health and social care.
Purpose & Applicability.
Applies to all coaching delivered by or on behalf of Flourish Holistic Coaching.
Aligns with DBS definitions of regulated activity for adults and children.
Permitted Activities (Coaching)
Goal-setting, action planning, habit formation, time management, accountability. Non-clinical psychoeducation (e.g., techniques for focus, NLP, Neuroscience for understanding mind management and behaviour modification, strategies for habit formation/routines, stress management) without diagnosis or treatment claims.
Prohibited Activities (Regulated Activity)
Healthcare or therapy (assessment, diagnosis, treatment of mental/physical health). Personal care tasks for adults. Social work tasks; safeguarding investigations. Managing client finances/affairs; transporting vulnerable adults for care purposes.
With children: unsupervised frequent instruction/coaching meeting frequency thresholds; any personal/health care.
Supervision & Escalation
All coaches have access to a named supervisor, safeguarding lead and escalation pathway. Any potential boundary crossing is reviewed by the director and her supervisor.
Record-Keeping & Data Protection
Session notes focus on goals and actions; store within approved systems; comply with GDPR. Do not store clinical data unless passed from/to clinicians through approved channels.
Review Cycle
This scope is reviewed annually or sooner if legislation or service model changes
